WADE & BUTCHER - SHEFFIELD - ENGLAND - 5/8 - 1/4 Hollow
This is a gorgeous looking Sheffield vintage collectors razor from Wade & Butcher..
The custom scales are Gray Translucent Faux Horn w/tapered red linen micarta wedge. This is a higher grade acrylic with superb optical clarity, excellent resisting to natural aging and heat resistance.
Razor has professionally been cleaned preserving all original grind and engraving as much as possible.
The blade's engraving is still fully visible with minor loss and the tang's partly faded due to the cleaning process but for a razor that's over 100 years old I'd say it looks extremely well preserved.
Pins are tight and blade centers nicely.
The blade measures a hair over 5/8 - barber's notch - 1/4 Hollow
Total weight: 1.6 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.75"
On the front shank it says: Wade & Butcher Sheffield, England
On the blade it says: 'Medium Size Hollow Ground'
Extremely nice and beautiful example of a Wade & Butcher.
Successor to Robert Wade; succeeded by Butcher, Brown & Butcher Sheffield - 1818-1890.
