MANUFACTURED BY HENRY SEARS & SON - 6/8 - Near Wedge - RE-GRIND

This is a beautiful vintage straight razor from Henry Sears & Son in excellent condition which is between 115 and 129 years old.
The company was founded by Henry Sears in 1865 but the naming of Henry Sears and Son was not used until 1883. The end of Henry Sears & Son was in 1897 when the company was sold.
The razor was completely restored with a total re-grind, preserving the original Near Wedge grind. All blemishes are gone and the razor looks perfect.
The razor is very clean with no with no rust, cracks, chips, pitting or disturbing stains.
Custom scales are Mokume Gane Black/White Burl with a tapered photoluminesent wedge.
Mokume Gane is made of 95% real metal that has been atomized down to the molecular level and combined with special chemical binders. M3 stands for "Macro Molecular Metal"

Grind: Near Wedge - Barber's notch

Total cutting edge: 2.75 inches
Pins/Washers: Nickel silver, stainless steel, brass.
On the front blade it says: Manufactured By Henry Sears & Son
Manufactured is mostly faded. 'By Henry Sears & Son' is still fully visible.
Blade closes and centers nicely.

Henry Sears & Son (Prussia): 1883-1897
Henry Sears & Co was founded in 1865 in Rockford, Illinois.
In 1879 the company became the Henry Sears manufacturing co.
In 1883 the name changed to Henry Sears & Co.
Henry Sears Manufacturing Co. operated from a factory in Middlebury, Conneticut from 1879 to 1881. It is unknown if the factory was moved or closed to Illinois by 1881. In 1885 the company was active in Chicago. Henry Sears retained a residence in Rockford. The company was sold to Farwell-Ozmun-Kirk & Co Hardware of St.Paul, Minnesota in 1897.
