AMERICAN KNIFE CO - PLYMOUTH HOLLOW, CONN - 6/8 - 1/4 Hollow
This is a very old American company and vintage razor from The American Knife Co. (1849 - 1875). As someone said 'That's a gorgeous piece of history right there'.
The custom scales are Faux Tortoise w/tapered faux ivory wedge. .
Razor has professionally been cleaned and restored preserving all original grind and tang engraving.
Most of the tang engraving is still visible. I had to stop om time during restoration as to not completely lose it all. Just a few tiny remaining residual surface pits.
For a razor this old I'd say it's ready for another life cycle of use.
Pins are tight and blade centers nicely.
The blade is extremely clean with no rust, cracks, chips or disturbing stains.
The blade measures 6/8 - subtle smiling edge - French Point - 1/4 Hollow
Total weight: 2.0 oz
Total cutting edge: 2.80"
On the front tang it says: The American Knife Co. Plymouth Hollow, Conn
Extremely nice and beautiful example of a 'The American Knife Co. Plymouth Hollow, Conn.'
The American Knife Co.: 1849 - 1875 Plymouth Hollow, 1876 - 1911 Thomaston.
